What's Happening at the Farm?

Spring is always a busy time on a farm and Spring at Damali has been no exception. We finally finished our Munstead bed - Yahoo! Over 3000 Angustifolia (English) lavender plants are in that one section. We've been finishing up some landscaping projects including some rock walls....yes more rock moving....but our backs are all the stronger for it. We've also been putting some finshing touches around the labyrinth including building a gazebo with the assistance of some keen Ridge helpers - thanks guys!

We're happy to see our vineyard doing well and also happy to have Mathias our Italian friend and wwoofer foreman back for his third summer. He's helping to nurture the vineyard and keep the gardens and grounds looking great. We've got an early haze of purple over our munstead patch and look forward to seeing the lavender beds blossom into various colors and hues over the coming few weeks.....just in time for our Lavenderfest which we are really excited about. We have all kinds of ideas brewing for this fun day and hope that lots of people will come and join us and the wwoofers for activities and entertainment for the whole family. Pray for sunshine, heaven knows we're due, however the rain has been great for all of of our new plantings of grass, veggies and lavender, everything is SO GREEN ! We're hoping to have our final landscape project in front of the new house done in time for the festival. It's going to be a.....oh you'll have to wait and see :-)

We've had lots of attention from the media including the More Living article and mention in an international travel magazine. Tour companies are adding us to their itineraries and we are being invited to participate in various tours and marketing pieces promoting agritourism in the Cowichan region. The most exciting thing is that our B&B is being featured in a national news magazine. Look for that article this August ! We'll keep you posted.

We are open five days a week now, Wednesday to Sunday until September so making products for the shop is keeping us busy too. We have some lovely new products and are excited about developing more new things as the harvest starts to come in. Lots of exciting stuff but mostly it's just wonderful to see our 'beautiful vision' becoming reality. Come by for a visit, we're always happy to chat...and take a break from weeding!
